Threat From The North

Once Hamas was attacked by Israel in response to their horrendous and barbaric attack on Israel what was then considered the greatest threat vowed to start attacks on northern Israel in support of them. Hezbollah was the one proxy of Iran that boasted of massive amounts of missiles and rockets that in the early months of the war concerned Israel the most. All I heard was that while the Israel Defense Force was busy with Hamas they didn’t want Hezbollah to declare all out war on Israel as well. So the citizens of Israel in the north evacuated until the threat was contained there. The IDF stationed soldiers and deterrents on Lebanon’s southern border just in case they were needed but even the US warned both Israel and Hezbollah to not escalate things or else. What that else meant wasn’t determined. The US envoy to that region made numerous trips to make sure things didn’t get too heated but then Israel decided enough was enough. Those Israelis who had to leave their homes and businesses began to demand to return and Prime Minister Netanyahu told they would make things safe as one of their goals in the fight against terror. To fulfill that promise Israel finally started an offensive in Lebanon that shocked even retired veterans who never thought they would see the vaunted Hezbollah be so easily handled. It caused a ceasefire deal to be brokered because the terrorists in the north were humbled and severely weakened. But what was the defining moment?

Call Me Maybe?

It was a plan months in the making and was so clever it shocked the world. But most of all it shocked Hezbollah and literally brought them to their knees. What did Israel do? Think exploding pagers. That’s right, the IDF sold Hezbollah pagers with explosives in them that could be detonated whenever they wanted them to explode. And in September of 2024 Israel set them all off killing thousands of terrorists including a huge amount of soldiers and worse, leaders going high up in the food chain. According to an article from the Jewish News Syndicate the entire Hezbollah senior command ranks was severely smashed:

As the dust settles from the mass pager and radio communication blasts that rocked Hezbollah in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, and caused thousands of injuries and dozens of deaths in the ranks of the Iran-backed terror army, observers have begun to assess the damage incurred by the Islamist group.

The terrorist leader all but admitted they were hit hard in their leadership:

In a televised speech on Thursday, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah acknowledged that his organization absorbed an unprecedented blow to its personnel and security, adding that there was no dispute that “the enemy has technological superiority.” Nasrallah and other Hezbollah leaders have vowed retaliation.

It was a two-fer as the explosions took out leaders and their ability to communicate and then to function:

The historic attack has severely disrupted Hezbollah’s operational infrastructure by taking thousands of commanders off the battlefield due to injuries, hundreds of them severe, while eliminating much of its ability to communicate with field operatives, since pagers were meant to be a safer replacement for smart phones, which the group considers too vulnerable (for) espionage.

As such, the damage to Hezbollah’s command structure, communications infrastructure and morale is considered significant, damaging the organization’s ability to function confidently.

The numbers are astounding:

According to Cmdr. (res.) Eyal Pinko, a researcher at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University and a former Israeli Navy officer, who also served in an intelligence organization, the attack struck up to 3,000 terror operatives in “less than a second.”

He elaborated

“If you just look at the persons who were carrying those beepers, this is probably the senior commanders and above. So it’s from the battalion commanders and above. So probably what is happening now in Hezbollah is that all the commanding structure from, let’s say, the rank of lieutenant colonel in a regular military to the generals, the two or three generals, are totally injured or some of them (have) are already died. So now to get even to the time to reset and to start to understand what is happening, it will take a few days.”

They still have troops though, even if their leaders are in disarray:

The surprise attack left Hezbollah on its knees, he added, though the organization’s opposition in Lebanon still does not stand a chance against the Islamist group’s armed operatives, estimated to number almost 100,000 (including reserve forces).

“You need to have a huge army in order to, to compete with them,” said Pinko. However, the 3,000 or so injured operatives mean that an enormously significant number of senior commanders are not functional—in all likelihood, “all [of the] senior commanding level were damaged,” he assessed.

They Were Never The Same

Hezbollah never recovered from that clever attack and it softened them up for even more offensives from the IDF. And on September 27th Israel assassinated Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah effectively leading to a ceasefire deal, a deal in my podcast from 11/19/24 that I didn’t see happening, but I suspect the US administration forced Israel to take it. In any event the agreement fell apart and fighting has resumed but Hezbollah is thought to be mulling actually moving out of southern Lebanon and allowing the Lebanese army to demilitarize the area south of the Litani river. All of this is still amazing considering how feared Hezbollah was when the war on Hamas began. As amazing as it was Hezbollah still has a lot of firepower in the rest of Lebanon and still has sway in the political arena so they can’t be considered defeated. Not by a long shot. And if they wanted to launch a Samson-like attack on Israel they surely could. Do I think they still want revenge for all the hurt and pain leveled on them? You betcha! But is Hezbollah in Bible prophecy? Again, you betcha.

God Has His Eyes On Hezbollah

In a prophecy in Ezekiel 28 it actually talks about specific parts of Lebanon that Hezbollah occupies being heavily hit by God using Israel:

The Word of the Lord came to me saying, 21 “Son of man, look toward Sidon and speak against her. 22 Tell her, ‘The Lord God says, “I am against you, O Sidon, and My greatness will be honored among you. They will know that I am the Lord when I punish Sidon. I will show Myself holy within her. 23 For I will send disease upon her, and blood into her streets. People will be killed by the sword from every side. Then they will know that I am the Lord. 24 No longer will the people of Israel have neighbors like a sharp thistle or thorn who hate them. Then they will know that I am the Lord God. (Ezekiel 28:20-24, NLV)

When we look at a map of the area, we see where Sidon is. And when we look at a current map of the Hezbollah strongholds Sidon is where the terror organization has massive amounts of weapons stored. And in the previous verses we also see God telling of the destruction of the ancient city of Tyre which again, is near Sidon and is also right where Hezbollah has a stronghold. What Israel does and can still do to these areas fits right in with what is happening right now and it’s not a coincidence. Even though they agreed to remove their weapons I highly doubt they completely have and I also doubt that the Lebanese army will make them do it as they are compromised. I can see Hezbollah retaking those areas to launch an attack on Israel either by themselves of in conjunction with Iran. And I can see these prophetic verses fulfilled if and when that attack happens. Israel will defeat these terrorists once and for all so we just don’t know the timing of it. Since Hezbollah will still support Hamas as long as they can is it possible that when Hamas is defeated or perilously close to defeat they will strike Israel hard? I think they will both for revenge and pride. And now we see some ways these terrorists will be defeated and end that threat in this war.
