Israel At War – Day 132

Them’s Fightin’ Words

IDF Tells Hospitals To Prepare

Signs are pointing to a conflict with Hezbollah as a headline from i24news.tv informs us:

IDF instructs hospitals to ready for war in the north involving 'significant disruptions'

You don’t send out instructions like that unless the military activities aren’t going to heat up. Daily we hear of attacks from the southern part of Lebanon and then of retaliation strikes from Israel. Comments from the Defense Minister Yoav Gallant telling troops and media that their planes are pointed north and that the IDF has “special capabilities” infer that they are going to deal with the terrorist threat there sooner than later. Add to this that the displaced residents in northern Israel have been promised they can move back when it’s safe and the signs are pointing to more than a strike or two. When the rhetoric coming out of leaders are like this, as we read in a report from i24news.tv you know there’s more behind it:

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Hezbollah on Thursday that the IDF is yet to unleash its full force on the northern front, an eventuality which the Shiite terror militia and the state hosting it would do best to avoid, he added.

"We are after an intense day in the north. We unleashed no more than a tenth of our capabilities against Hezbollah, haven't gone out of first gear, out of ten," he said.

"The Air Force jets currently flying over Lebanon are equipped with heavier bombs for more distant targets,” Gallant warned. "We wish not to enter a war and want to allow the return of residents of the north to their homes through talks. If we have no choice, we will act to bring them back and provide the necessary security."

As we say in America, them’s fightin’ words.

Not A Terrorist Group?

In an article from The Jerusalem Post we read that the UN doesn’t consider Hamas to be a terrorist group and that Israel needs to find a way to live with them:

UN Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told a representative from Sky News on Wednesday that he did not consider Hamas to be a terrorist group.

Asked about the feasibility of Israel’s military goal to eliminate Hamas and disallow the terrorist group from having any governing say in Gaza, Griffiths responded “Hamas is not a terrorist group for us, as you know, it is a political movement. But, I think it is very very difficult to dislodge these groups without a negotiated solution; which includes their aspirations.

Griffiths added this about how the war will end:

“I can not think of an example offhand of a place where a victory through warfare has succeeded against a well-entrenched group, terrorist or otherwise.”

Apparently he forgot about the Nazis, but I digress. He thinks there is a better way:

Speaking of Hamas’s October 7 attack, Griffiths said he had “total understanding” of the “trauma" it had caused Israel but that Israel would need to build a relationship with its neighbors regardless.

My opinion is based on oh, 75 years of having nations or otherwise constantly fighting against Israel and Israel winning only to give those who want their destruction land right next to them again and again. I believe Israel when it says that “never again” actually means that this time around.

And Israel’s account on X had this to say in response to Griffiths comments:

According to @UNReliefChief Hamas is not a terrorist organization. They are a political organization, who from time to time murders, rapes and kidnaps civilians to let off steam. What an abomination the @UN has become.

The Israeli Ambassador to the UN also weighed in on this hot debate as we read further from The Jerusalem post article:

He added, "Is systematic rape of women not terrorism? Is attempting to commit genocide not terrorism? This is the face of the UN these days: an organization that whitewashes terrorism, promotes Hamas and blames the victims. The UN has lost all credibility. Mr. Under-Secretary-General, you cannot say that you are acting in the name of 'humanitarian' matters. You are a collaborator of Hamas!"

Add these comments to another example of them’s fightin’ words.

US Says Hamas Is A Terrorist Group

The United States considers Hamas a terrorist group as we read in an article from The Times Of Israel:

The US doubles down on its designation of Hamas as a terror organization after the UN’s top humanitarian official asserted that he does not see it as such.

“Hamas is a terrorist organization. We’ve said so. It is. It just is. You don’t have to look any further than what they did on the seventh of October to see it in stark terms,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby says in response to a question on Martin Griffiths’ comments during a press briefing.

Kirby went on to mention further proof of their opinion:

“Take a look at their manifesto, even the one that was so-called watered down in 2017. There’s no doubt that they just want to wipe out Israel off the face of the map. This is a terrorist organization. Pure and simple. Period,” Kirby adds.

I think he means it. So when there is a push for a two-state solution, is there any Arab group who will not favor the current view of annihilation of Israel, who will recognize they have a right to exist and that they won’t teach the people to hate Jews? The two-state solution hasn’t worked no matter how many times its been tried. Please retire this failed rhetoric and deal with the root cause of the conflict. Unfortunately when one side won’t give up their goal of killing all Jews, no peace will occur. Those aren’t fightin’ words in an earthly sense. Those are spiritual fightin’ words because only God can change hearts.
