Houthis Attacked – Finally

After so much time shooting down missiles and drones from the Houthi rebels in Yemen, the international coalition created to address their attacks finally strike proactively at targets being used to make these attacks as we read in this report from foxnews.com:

The United States and Britain carried out a series of air strikes on military locations belonging to Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen early Friday in response to the militant group's ongoing attacks on vessels traveling through the Red Sea.

Fox News is told there were attacks on more than a dozen Houthi targets by air, surface, and subsurface platforms. The attacks were carried out with support from Australia, the Netherlands, Bahrain, and Canada. A U.S. defense official says the U.K. contributed aircraft.

A joint statement from the governments of Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Southers Korea, and others said in a joint statement that the strikes "were intended to disrupt and degrade the capabilities the Houthis use to threaten global trade and the lives of international mariners in one of the world's most critical waterways."

While the statement was made jointly, some countries in the coalition didn’t participate in these strikes. Italy, Spain and France did not take part in US and British strikes against the Houthi group in Yemen nor did were part of the joint statement. The Houthis and Iran vowed to respond to the attacks:

The group's leader, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi vowed in a televised speech earlier Thursday that any U.S. attack on Yemen's Houthis would not go without a response. He said any such response would be bigger than the recent strike in which its drones and missiles targeted a U.S. ship in the Red Sea.

"Any American attack will not remain without a response. The response will be greater than the attack that was carried out with twenty drones and a number of missiles," he said.

It is good that the response this time hit key parts of the Houthi attack stations, but nothing will stop them from rearming with the help of Iran until they are hit hard everywhere. They simply don’t have the political will to do that, but Israel does.

Houthis Are Now A Terrorist Group Again

After taking them off the United States terrorist list, they are now back on it, or least close to it. We read more about this change of heart in this article from The Times Of Israel:

Joe Biden says he thinks the Houthi rebels in Yemen are a terror group in what could mark a shift in the administration’s approach to the Iran-backed fighters who have been disrupting Red Sea shipping routes for weeks.

While in a Pennsylvania bookstore, Biden is asked by the traveling press pool whether he thinks the Houthis are a terror group. “I think they are,” he said.

During his first year in office, Biden removed the Houthis’ terror listing amid pressure from progressives who argued that it was harming efforts to deliver humanitarian aid in Yemen.

The administration said it decided to review that decision in November against the backdrop of repeated attacks by Houthis on international vessels in the Red Sea.

If they are officially back on that list, it would allow America to be more aggressive in how they deal with the Houthis. When asked about how they will approach Iran, who is heavily supporting the Houthis, Biden said this:

With a smoothie in hand from a nearby cafe, Biden is asked whether he has a message to Iran.

“I’ve already delivered the message to Iran.”

Asked whether he’s willing to continue bombing the Houthis if the attacks don’t stop, Biden responds, “We will make sure we respond to the Houthis if they continue this outrageous behavior.”

Medications To Get To Remaining Hostages

In an agreement arrived at with what one report called great pressure from Qatar, Hamas has decided to allow medicines to be given to hostages. This was something Israel has been pushing from the start. We read more on this from a report in The Times Of Israel:

An agreement has been reached that will see vital medications delivered to hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Prime Minister’s Office announced in a statement Friday evening.

The statement added that the medications will be delivered to the hostages in the next few days.

Channel 12 reported that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will facilitate the transfer.

An Israeli official told The Times of Israel that the list of medications for the hostages will include ones deemed as “life-saving” by their doctors and are believed to include medicine for those with chronic illnesses, heart disease, high blood pressure and asthma.

What took Hamas so long to agree to the delivery of these medications? Revealing information to Israel:

According to the official, the negotiations were complex as Hamas is wary that the transfer of medications to the hostages will lead to Israel discovering where exactly they are being held.

What will Hamas get in return? We read that in this quote:

The official said that as part of the agreement, Israel had agreed to expand the entry of medications for Palestinians as part of the humanitarian aid entering Gaza.

  • Yet whether it was Your will or not, impart Your current strategy to the IDF to make this new phase super effective in hastening the total destruction of Hamas (Isa. 27:1; 34:5-6; 59:18).
  • Show Israel's politicians and the IDF what a real "victory" should look like, and then accompany them as they fight to achieve just that (Josh 10:10, 42; Psa. 92:4; 108:13).
