Reconsidering Terms
While we hear that the US is forming plans for a two-state solution we now read in a report from World Israel News that Hamas disarming is negotiable:
Israel is growing concerned amid reports from Al Arabiya that the United States is considering skipping a full disarmament phase in Gaza and moving directly into rebuilding damaged neighborhoods.
If true, this is a very bad move for Israel and the US if we consider what Genesis 12:3:
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and the entire world will be blessed because of you. (TLB)
We do need to consider the source as we read more:
According to the report, US officials have ruled out deploying American ground forces, pushing policymakers to consider alternatives that could advance reconstruction while avoiding a direct military footprint.
This would be a major change, one I have a hard time believing. Israel would not be pleased if it’s correct:
Israeli sources cited in the coverage said such a move risks cementing Hamas’s ability to rearm and could derail long-term stability goals.
At the same time the UN is talking about a US Gaza plan:
These discussions come as the UN Security Council prepares to vote on a resolution backing President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal.
According to the report, it’s what Trump used to get the current deal done:
The latest draft is the product of multiple rounds of negotiation and is described by diplomats as the framework that helped secure the October 10 ceasefire.
Here are more details on it:
The resolution outlines the creation of a “Stabilization Force” tasked with coordinating with Israel, Egypt, and specially trained Palestinian Authority police to secure borders, remove weapons held by unauthorized groups, and maintain humanitarian corridors. The text additionally calls for a “Peace Council” that would govern Gaza through 2027 under President Trump’s chairmanship.
Israel Claps Back
To none’s surprise, Israel has justified concerns:
Israeli political officials quoted by Yedioth Ahronoth highlighted sections they believe work against Israeli interests—particularly those addressing Palestinian statehood and limitations on Israel’s veto power over which countries may send peacekeepers.
Netanyahu weighed in as well:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made clear Sunday that he will not accept any arrangement that allows Hamas to retain weapons.
He was extremely clear about Hamas having any control in Gaza and still retaining access to weapons:
Addressing suggestions that parts of Gaza might remain under Hamas control without full demilitarization, he said, “There will be no such thing.” He added, “In the 20-point plan, and in any other case, this area will be demilitarized and Hamas will be disarmed — either the easy way or the hard way.” Netanyahu said this position aligns with President Trump’s plan and reiterated Israel’s insistence on eliminating any remaining armed capability in Hamas-run areas.
Another official was quite clear as well:
An Israeli security official echoed the same stance, saying Israel will remain in Gaza until “not a single rifle” can again be used against Israelis.
I’m personally unhappy about how the US is seemingly getting weaker and weaker in how they deal with Hamas. It’s a dangerous thing and it will not work. Even now Hamas is not turning over the bodies of the remaining three hostages but instead are releasing partial remains for Israel to determine if they are from those bodies. The continued slow rolling of this process or first phase of the deal isn’t going to stop. Hamas has constantly violated the deal and should be dealt with militarily regardless of what the US says. I’ve said it from the beginning that Israel will have to get the job done by itself and these current reports support my assertion. Let the IDF
