Another One Bites The Dust
When the man who led the attacks on October 7, 2023, was taken out I thought the war would be over soon. That prediction was wrong but now we hear about his successor was bombed out of existence from a report in The Times Of Israel:
Hamas’s leader in Gaza, Muhammad Sinwar, was targeted in a major Israeli airstrike at a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon, security sources said.
The Israel Defense Forces, in a statement, said it had targeted Hamas operatives at an underground command center belonging to the terror group, below the European Hospital in Khan Younis.
Footage posted online showed several large plumes of smoke rising from the ground around the hospital, as Israeli Air Force fighter jets dropped at least nine bombs. Other clips showed that the ground had collapsed in the area of the strike.
The Hamas-run health ministry reported 16 dead and over 70 wounded in the strike, though there was no immediate word if Sinwar was among the casualties.
To be fair, Sinwar’s demise hasn’t been verified, but the same thing was true when Israel bombed the building where Hezbollah’s leader Nasrallah resided. It’s only a matter of time until this is all made official. Hamas officials gave their assessment of the strike:
Security sources said the military was working to confirm if the assassination attempt was successful. If Sinwar was indeed in the tunnel, as the military’s intelligence indicated, he was likely killed, the sources said, adding that there was a small window of opportunity for the strike.
The IDF will probably be criticized for hitting the hospital but we all know that Hamas was hiding there:
The IDF said it took steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike, including by using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.
“The Hamas terror organization continues to use hospitals in the Gaza Strip for terror purposes, cynically and cruelly exploiting the civilian population in and around the hospital,” the military said.
The IDF is also making sure that no one tampers with the site until evidence is gathered:
Several hours after the initial attack, Palestinian media reported additional strikes in the area of the hospital, in what appeared to be an attempt by the IDF to prevent anyone from approaching the tunnel where Sinwar was targeted.
Lost in all these actions is that Sinwar was getting in the way of hostage talks:
Israeli officials have described Muhammad Sinwar as obstinate with regard to negotiations with Hamas for the release of hostages, and an obstacle to reaching a ceasefire deal.
Missing The Mark
I’m not sure if there will be blowback on another person killed in the assassination attack but we read about his death in an article from i24news.tv:
After the release of hostage Edan Alexander, fighting in the Gaza Strip resumed overnight. The IDF attacked a Hamas command compound at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis.
One of those presumed to be eliminated was a photojournalist who was seen in a picture being kissed by the previous Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar:
"Journalist" Hassan Aslih, a Hamas associate who was one of the documentarians of the October 7 attack – and who was a freelance photographer for Western outlets such as CNN, and was fired apparently after a photo showing him with Sinwar – was reportedly eliminated in an IDF strike about a month after surviving another attack. He was receiving rehabilitation treatment in Gaza's Nasser Hospital .Tonight - apparently finally eliminated by Israel.
These men probably thought that hiding under the hospital kept them safe, but they obviously thought wrong:
The IDF said overnight that "We were attacked by key Hamas terrorists who were hiding in a command and control complex established in the Nasser Hospital complex in the Khan Yunis area."
I fully expect that the lamestream media will criticize Israel for the bombing and we can see that in this report from CNN.com:
Israel struck a hospital in Gaza early Tuesday, a day after briefly pausing military activity for the release of Israeli-American Edan Alexander by Hamas.
The Israeli military resumed strikes in Gaza about an hour after Alexander left the territory, hitting the Al Daraj neighborhood in northern Gaza on Monday evening, before striking the Nasser medical complex in southern Gaza on Tuesday, according to hospital officials.
Unlike more objective reports, CNN spins it this way:
The IDF strike targeted the surgical ward on the hospital’s third floor, which is now “completely out of service,” killing two patients and wounding medical staff, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) said.
The target of the strike appeared to be Hassan Eslaiah, a prominent Gaza photojournalist. He was being treated at the hospital after being wounded in an earlier targeted Israeli airstrike in April.
Citing partisan sources, they go on to say this:
The Ramallah-based Palestinian Journalists Protection Center condemned Eslaiah’s killing, demanding an international investigation into what they described as a “heinous assassination.” The center called Eslaiah’s killing the “deliberate targeting of the voice of truth.”
The Nasser hospital strike on Tuesday is the latest example of deliberate Israeli attacks on medical facilities in Gaza, for which Israel has been accused of violating international law.
Hospitals are entitled to special protections during armed conflict under international humanitarian law and can only be targeted under extremely limited circumstances, such as if they are being used to actively commit “an act harmful to the enemy,” according to the Geneva Conventions.
They totally left out the real target of the bombings which was the leader of Hamas who was using the hospital as a base of operations. How convenient? As you Pray for the peace of Jerusalem also add to those prayers the deception by the prince of the power of the air who clearly doesn’t want Israel, the Jews and those who support them to be portrayed fairly.
