Israel At War – Day 348

Call Me Maybe - Part Deux

Another Wave Of Explosions

After a major attack by Israel, who still hasn’t confirmed they did it, a second wave of devices exploding occurred in Lebanon as we read in a report from The Jerusalem Post:

Lebanese media reported that at least 500 people were wounded on Wednesday as another round of explosions rang out throughout the country at midday.

Axios started to report significant details about Israel's involvement in the attack, while The Jerusalem Post (which also has extensive Western sources) has also been able to independently confirm large aspects of details related to the attack.

It’s hard to know the extent of how many people were injured or killed, but some information is coming out slowly:

Nine people had been killed, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

According to Reuters, citing a Lebanese security official, those wounded sustained wounds primarily to the stomach and hands.

The Lebanese Health Ministry issued a statement earlier saying 14 people were killed, and over 450 were wounded.

People were affected, but damage was done to buildings and vehicles:

The Lebanese Civil Defense later stated it was operating to extinguish the fires that had broken out following the explosions in some 60 shops and homes, 15 vehicles, motorcycles, and two fingerprint devices. It added that ambulances were transferring the wounded to hospitals throughout the country.

It’s happening all across Lebanon now:

Initial vague reports of networked devices exploding came in from Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and throughout Lebanon.

For those who think this is random, the attack was targeting only Hezbollah terrorists and apparently one exploded at a funeral of someone who died the day before:

If true, this would be the second consecutive day of potential sabotage and explosions in Lebanon after around 3,000 mostly members of Hezbollah were wounded by exploding beepers on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the explosions occurred at and in parallel to the funeral of four Hezbollah members in Lebanon. The funeral was live-streamed on X but ended abruptly.

While only pagers were reported to be hit initially, it could be many more devices that could explode and the terrorist leaders are told to avoid all communication devices:

Unofficial reports claimed that iPhones, video cameras, IC-V82 radios, and other devices also detonated.

According to unconfirmed reports, Hezbollah has told its operatives to distance itself from communication devices.

Unofficial reports also claimed that Hezbollah told its members to dispose of devices containing a lithium battery or that are connected to the internet.

It Could Be All Devices

Although a lot of information is coming out which can’t be verified, this high tech attack could be hitting a lot of devices:

Additional unconfirmed reports claimed that lithium batteries for solar energy storage had detonated and that some houses were on fire.

Hezbollah is taking this attack seriously:

Reuters later quoted senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine as saying the terror group was in a "new phase" and a "punishment is certainly coming.”

Some reports state that the devices were part of a recent buy by the terrorists:

Reuters also added, according to a security source, that the hand-held radios via which the explosions reportedly occurred were bought by Hezbollah five months ago at the same time as the pagers.

It’s possible that Israel pulled this off using aerial means:

Lebanese state media claimed that drones and aircraft were seen flying above western and central Lebanon during the explosions.

The IAF is also striking Lebanon:

Israeli media reported later on Wednesday that the Israel Air Force was carrying out strikes in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah thinks they know who the culprits are even if Israel is being mum about it:

Hezbollah has accused Israel of being the saboteur, with Jerusalem staying publicly silent on the issue, but with several foreign media outlets reporting that the Mossad and IDF intelligence were behind it, and with The Post independently confirming significant aspects of the saga.

How Hard Were They Hit?

We are told by an article from The Times Of Israel that the real toll from the explosions is a lot worse than Hezbollah is letting on:

According to a Ynet report, Israel believes Hezbollah’s toll from the attacks over the last two days is much higher than the official numbers released so far.

“The estimation is that there are many dozens of dead, if not more,” veteran investigative reporter and analyst Ronen Bergman wrote, without naming his sources.

He goes on to say that the higher echelons of the terrorists army was hit:

Bergman added that Israel believes the explosions caused “significant harm” to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan unit, with much of its leadership taken out of action.

If true, they aren’t going to publicly admit to the extent of the damage done as they would have to also admit how hard they were attacked and surprised. Slowly they are having to report on soldiers killed because the funerals are now public. The more we learn, the more the wide range of damage that was done to these terrorists from the north who now have to retaliate for a number of attacks if they are to save face. The article alludes to just that:

Hezbollah said Israel was “fully responsible for this criminal aggression” and reiterated it would avenge the attack, while vowing to continue its fight against Israel in support of Hamas in the Gaza war.

Cross-border exchanges with Israeli forces were “ongoing and separate from the difficult reckoning that the criminal enemy must await for its massacre,” Hezbollah said.

For its part, these tactics are letting Israelis who were displaced by Hezbollah’s constant attacks know that they are hitting their enemies back and hitting them in ways that cause confusion and fear in their ranks. Can you imagine not trusting any electronic device and then an organization that has lost the means to connect and how they need to scramble to restore sanity and lines of communication? Could it also mean that the IDF is going to hit them militarily with bombs and drones now that they are so traumatized? It would make sense. Really, this sounds so Biblical as enemy armies have been seen to panic and even fight amongst themselves in the pages of Scripture. In Judges 7:21-22 we see how Gideon and Israel defeated the Midianites by way of confusion. And in a war yet to happen, that of the war of Gog and Magog found in Ezekiel 38 we read that part of the way God defeats those armies coming against Israel is also confusion:

I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. (Ezekiel 38:21, NKJV)

We may not know just how this current war will work itself out, but I know that God is in the mix and it sure looks like a Biblical tactic is at work here.
