Who Is Lying?
There are moments when you watch something and you realize the world you thought you understood has shifted underneath you. This was one of those moments. I recently watched an update from Amir Tsarfati and Pastor Barry Stagner recorded on June 24th from the Jezrael Valley in Galilee, and I have to say it left me deeply troubled - not just about what is happening in the Middle East, but about how detached some of our leaders appear to be from the reality on the ground. We are being told a deal has been struck with Iran. We are being told it is a good one. We are being told to trust the process. But when you line up what the Americans are saying against what the Iranians are saying, you are not looking at two sides interpreting the same agreement differently. You are looking at two entirely different realities. The theme of Amir and Barry’s discussion was simple but sobering: who is actually telling the truth? After watching it carefully, my conclusion is this - the Iranians are. They are not hiding it. They are saying exactly what they mean and exactly what they plan to do. And the fact that we keep acting surprised is the most frightening part of all.
The Deal That Neither Side Agrees On
The US and Iran are putting out completely contradictory statements about what was actually agreed to in Switzerland. President Trump says the unfrozen Iranian billions must be spent exclusively on American agricultural products. Iran's central bank governor says flatly the deal does not obligate them to buy a single US product. Vice President Vance announced that Iran agreed to allow international nuclear inspectors back in. Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson said they have not spoken to the IAEA and will not let them enter. President Trump says the Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain completely toll-free during and after the 60-day ceasefire. The Speaker of the Iranian parliament says the strait will never go back to pre-war status and there will be tolls. And then Oman and Iran jointly released an official statement confirming they view the strait as their territorial waters and intend to charge tolls after the 60-day window. These aren't misunderstandings. These are diametrically opposing positions on the same supposed agreement. Pastor Barry made a point worth sitting with. Iran has no constituency to please. They are not trying to lower gas prices or win midterm elections. They don't need to spin anything for the press. When a dictatorship tells you what it intends to do, you would be wise to believe them. The Iranians have openly said they brought the president to his knees, that the foolish West believes it is getting something in return, and that it will never happen. I didn’t say that. They did. On the record.
The Humiliation No One Is Talking About
What happened at the negotiating table in Qatar was extraordinary, and not in a good way. The Qatari prime minister arrived, greeted the Pakistani delegation warmly, and left Vice President Vance standing with his hand extended - ignored. The Iranian delegation arrived late, refused to look at the Americans, and ordered all media out so there would not be a single photograph of the two parties together. And then the Qatari prime minister released a photo of himself standing over the vice president of the United States dictating what to type into a secured government computer. He published it. On purpose. That image was not accidental. It was a message to Iran and to the entire region - we control this, not the Americans. Within hours of that scene, the same Qatari prime minister announced that regional states are exploring a new security framework that would include Iran, signaling a move away from US-led protection. This is not a country acting like our ally. This is a country telling the world they have outmaneuvered us.
Lebanon and the Red Line
On Lebanon, the situation is equally alarming. When asked about reports that Netanyahu said Israeli troops are not leaving southern Lebanon, President Trump responded that he is a problem solver and would get it solved - "including with Bibi." That casual reference to Israel's prime minister, combined with the implied threat, reveals something important. The pressure being applied is not on Hezbollah. It is on Israel. What the world is not seeing on CNN or the BBC is what Israel has actually found underground in southern Lebanon. Massive underground cities with hospitals, kitchens, munitions, drones, launching pads, and missiles - all aimed directly at Israeli territory - four to six miles from the Israeli border. This is not a defensive posture. This is an army embedded in civilian infrastructure, waiting. And Israel is being pressured to walk away from dismantling it. Here is what is most telling: Lebanon's own Christian leaders are saying the same thing Israel is. The head of the Kataeb party and the head of the Lebanese Forces - both Christian political parties - have written publicly that Hezbollah must go, that they will not coexist with an armed militia, and that Iran must be permanently removed from the Lebanese file. These are Lebanese citizens, not Israelis, demanding what Israel is being pressured to abandon.
The Bigger Picture
The broader conversation touched on things closer to home as well. The defunding of USAID has already produced a striking shift in South America, where seven countries have moved away from left-wing governments since the funding dried up. It turns out a significant portion of that political landscape was being sustained by American money flowing through a vehicle that was functioning as an instrument of progressive ideology rather than genuine humanitarian aid.
And in Great Britain, an official parliamentary inquiry - not a conspiracy theory, not social media speculation, but a formal government report - has confirmed that over 200,000 girls were raped or sexually abused by grooming gangs. The silence from major media outlets is deafening. Not a word from the BBC. Not a word from CNN. The same institutions that would wall-to-wall cover a story fitting a preferred narrative have simply looked away. One rape victim was arrested for posting about her own experience. A man was sentenced to prison for publicly describing what was happening to young girls. This is where the suppression of truth leads.
A Word for Those Paying Attention
Amir closed with something that has stayed with me. He said that since October 7th, he made a decision: when his enemies say something, he is going to listen, because eventually that is what they will do. That is not paranoia. That is wisdom earned through experience. We are watching a strong delusion settle over much of the Western world. Leaders saying things they know are not true, or worse, things they genuinely believe because they are being misled by people who have no intention of honoring any agreement. And in the middle of all of it, Israel is being asked to trust that the same people who cannot get a straight answer out of Iran on inspectors, tolls, or agricultural purchases will somehow guarantee their security. They will not. And the sooner we acknowledge that, the better prepared we will be for what comes next.
