Israel At War – Day 698
Smoke And Mirrors
Losing Support
In an article from The Times Or Israel we hear from US President Trump that the longer the war lasts, the worse the view of Israel will get:
US President Donald Trump said in an interview released Monday that Israel “may be winning the [Gaza] war, but they’re not winning the world of public relations.”
And he has a valid point, one that students of Bible prophecy understand. But this wasn’t the first time the US leader made this point:
Trump’s comments echoed ones he made several times last year during the presidential campaign, but he has not repeated the argument since returning to office in January.
He has recently begun reiterating his belief that Israel needs to end the war quickly and told the Daily Caller, “They’re gonna have to get that war over with… It is hurting Israel.”
He understands public opinions as well as anyone. And he knows a thing or two about facing public adversity. However, he still knows that supporting Israel regardless is paramount now:
But Trump also has indicated his support for Israel’s plan to take over Gaza City, asserting in recent weeks that Jerusalem must “finish the job” against Hamas and claiming that the terror group will only release the remaining hostages after it is destroyed. The Israel Defense Forces has reportedly determined that the Gaza City operation could take four or five months to complete, after which Netanyahu has talked about a subsequent operation to conquer the refugee camps in the central Strip.
Trump was then asked about support for Israel in his own party, noting his unwavering backing:
Trump was asked in the interview whether he is concerned about waning support for Israel in the US, including among Republicans: “I’m aware of it,” he responded.
He then pivoted to highlight his “good support from Israel,” while touting the moves he has taken as president in defense of the Jewish state. Trump asserted Israel had “the strongest lobby in Congress” 15 or 20 years ago, but no longer does.
He did mention that Israeli support is waning:
“There was a time where… if you wanted to be a politician, you couldn’t speak badly [about Israel],” he said. “Israel was the strongest lobby I’ve ever seen.. They had total control over Congress,” Trump said. Israel has “been hurt, especially in Congress.”
Trump, like myself and others are perplexed given the horrendous massacre on 10/7/23:
Trump added that was “a little surprised” to see declining support for Israel in Congress. “People, they forgot about October 7th. You know, October 7th was a truly horrible day, because I’ve seen the pictures.”
He made the parallel to the Holocaust with Germany which people even now deny happened:
“And you know, you have people that deny it ever happened, they’re deniers. You have people that deny the Holocaust ever happened,” he continued. “So, they’re gonna have to get that war over with. But it is hurting Israel. There’s no question about it. They may be winning the war, but they’re not winning the world of public relations, you know, and it is hurting them.”
Not So Fast
You may have heard about genocide scholars stating unanimously that Israel meets the standards of genocide in Gaza. One of their members tells us the truth about that statement as we read in an article from i24news.tv:
In an interview with i24NEWS, genocide scholar Dr. Sara Brown criticized the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) for pushing through a resolution accusing Israel of genocide without holding the standard debate among members.
Brown knows a thing or two about the organization:
Brown, who has been a member of the association for more than a decade and served on its advisory board for two four-year terms, also serves as the American Jewish Committee’s San Diego Regional Director.
In her time with it she said that his decision wasn’t vetted and debated as done in the past:
She said the association normally discusses controversial resolutions in virtual town halls, allowing members to weigh in before votes.
“For this resolution, the leadership declined to hold any discussion,” Brown said. “The content of the resolution and the way it was forced through speak to an embarrassing absence of professionalism.”
Brown also noted that the members who voted relied on less than objective sources for their research:
She criticized the resolution for relying on sources such as Amnesty International, which she said reinterpreted the definition of genocide to apply to Israel, and UN special investigator Francesca Albanese, whose past statements have included antisemitic and extremist rhetoric, according to Brown.
The headlines make it sound like all of the organization made the decision which wasn’t true at all:
Only 126 members out of roughly 500 voted on the resolution, Brown said. “They announced the resolution as if it was unanimous vote on behalf of the entirety of the association. It was not, and they refused to hold a discussion,” she added.
With only 25% of the group weighing in that would mean that 75% disagreed. Again, something the articles don’t disclose. The bigger issue is that the group is allowing unqualified or subjective voices in for the process:
Brown noted that while the association’s membership expansion to include activists and non-scholars can be valuable, it can also make controversial resolutions easier to push through.
Brown wants the public to know that the statement is far from unanimous and serious disagreements were squelched to push it out:
“The public is going to see, ‘Genocide experts agree.’ No, we don’t, and we were deliberately silenced,” Brown said.
The way this report came out and the timing are suspect as well. As I said before the closer Hamas is to being defeated the more that the antisemitic and antichrist spirit driven will push false information like this out and encourage the international community to call for a Palestinian state to be declared. Be prepared to see more fake stories of starving children with these stories about Israeli genocide only proliferating. Hamas and these other terrorists are masters of misinformation and even have whole units committed to it. Pray the truth will also come out.
